MALCOLM — Both Tri County cross country teams and a lone Wolverine will be making the trip to Kearney this Friday for the 2010 State Class D Cross Country Championships after topnotch performances at the D-1 district meet near Malcolm last Thursday.
The district meet, held at Branched Oak State Recreation Area, featured a 17-team field, one of the larger ones since a fifth district was added to Class D several years ago.
The TC boys won the team title, holding off runner-up Malcolm by 2 points for the honor. The W-C boys finished 10th overall with Fremont Bergan, Yutan, Oakland-Craig, Lincoln Christian, North Bend Central, College View Academy and Louisville separating them from the top pair.
In the girls division, the Trojans were third only 5 points behind first-place Lincoln Christian with Louisville 3 points ahead of TC while W-C ended up seventh. Oakland-Craig, East Butler and Yutan separated the Trojans from the Wolverines.
