The Crete High girls’ soccer team closed their season Monday in York with a 2-0 loss to Seward in the first round of the B-5 district tournament.
The Cardinals, who finished 1-13, wrapped up their regular season last week with road losses at Grand Island Northwest, 3-0 on Tuesday and at York, 1-0 on Thursday.
Seward scored both of their goals in the first half of Monday's district match.
"In the second half, we played a lot more aggressively and didn't let them score," Crete coach Tammy Aksamit said. "The girls have improved all year and ended with a good game."
Crete goalkeeper Alexis Page collected 23 saves in the loss.
On Friday, Page, a junior, junior midfielder Vanessa Salcido and freshman defender Jamie Lefebure were named to the All-Central Conference honorable mention list.
“This season has been a tough one due to all the injuries we have incurred,” Aksamit commented. “Each week we have had girls that have had to play new positions.”
