Doane sprinter DeeJay Silcott, a senior from El Paso, Texas, was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week Thursday following her double-win performance at the Scott Nisely Memorial Classic Jan. 30 at Fuhrer Fieldhouse.

Silcott won the 55-meter dash final in 7.25 seconds, one hundredth of a second off the school record. The time was under the automatic national meet qualifying standard and is the eighth-fastest time in the NAIA so far this year.

She also won the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.58.
