Doane softball player Brooke Sampson, a senior outfielder from Bakersfield, Calif., was named Monday to the Capital One Academic All-America first team.

Doane entries at four singles positions and two doubles slots were named to the All-Great Plains Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Team last week, and Tiger coach Pete Fiumefreddo was named GPAC Men’s Tennis Coach of the Year.

The Doane men’s tennis team had a short stay at their first appearance at the NAIA Championships since the late 1970s, falling to Concordia University (Calif.) 9-0 in the first round a week ago Tuesday in Mobile, Ala.
