An old rival will return to the Crete High football schedule for the 2010 and 2011 seasons along with a new regular-season opponent the Cardinals faced in the playoffs last year.
The Nebraska School Activities Association released football matchups for the next two seasons last week, and it will now be up to the schools involved to set exact dates (Thursday, Friday or Saturday of the assigned weeks) and game times.
Crete and Seward will be facing each other again for the first time since 2007. The Cardinals and Bluejays will meet in the regular season finale this fall at Concordia University's Bulldog Stadium.
Plattsmouth is a new regular season opponent for the Cardinals, scheduled to come to town this fall during Week 5. Crete defeated the Blue Devils in the first round of the playoffs last fall.
The 2010 season will kick off for Crete in the last week of August with a home game against Grand Island Northwest. After road games at Omaha Skutt and Waverly, Crete will host Adams Central.
The Cardinals will visit Norris, then host Plattsmouth and Beatrice before closing out the regular season on the road against Pius X and Seward.
The 2011 schedule features the same opponents in the same order with the home sites reversed.
